New Computer Laboratory!

The Rotary Clubs of Matlock and Sutton-in-Ashfield both made donations towards BDA's new Computer Lab last year.

The Lab was offocially opened in December and is now furnished with a thank you plaque!

Joseph emailed to say, "Once again, we thank you for your efforts in raising the funds for this project. Incidentally, if any of the members of Matlock and Sutton in Ashfield Rotary Clubs are ever in Kenya , we would like to make a standing invitation to BDA to a ceremonial unveiling of this plaque. We thank for yoursupport throughout the journey to making BDA what it is today. We are eternallygrateful"

The new technology teacher Eunice Mungia, who started in January said, "Asyou know, our ICT facility here at BDA is new and we are still in the process of equipping Computer studies learning resources. Please feel free to linkwith us!"

John has linked with Eunice and is using his contacts to identify programs to be shared across the land and via the ether! There is also a potential link with All Saints Church of England School in Leicestershire. John will be visiting the school to talk about BDA, show some pictures and may even sing, "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly!"

Trustees are also exploring support for the purchase of books for the library.

Meanwhile Simon and Nicky continue work at the business end of things: fundraising, receiving reports of student progress - all the sponsored children are doing well. Simon has offered to do talks to a range of clubs and societies as we are always looking for support. We also have a Trustees meeting due in March.

We wish all sponsors, supporters and especially all at BDA a prosperous New Year! Thank you for your support in 2011. We hope you continue to stay in touch and support us throughout and beyond 2012.

2011 has been a great year for we Trustees and for BDA. It all started with our visit to Nakuru Kenya in February. Joseph and Lydia made us very welcome indeed and it was great to meet the students, staff and parents.

Exploring differences

We were made VERY welcome wherever we went.

We were welcomed into sponsored children's
houses and heard their stories.

This visit made us even more confident about the work of BDA. We resolved to ensure that every penny raised by KES would go direct to the school and that we would fund administration ourselves and not use donations.

At the end of 2011 KES, through generous support is sponsoring 27 students, some day and some borders and we have raised, and are raising money, for games and especially the new IT facilities. This will be a great boost for the school. We were the delighted to receive news from Lydia and Joseph and see the new secondary block taking shape in July and opening in November.

So, the New Year heralds the first term of a new Secondary School Building and the opening of the IT facilities. These IT facilities have been helped by monies from both the Rotary Club of Matlock and the Rotary Club of Sutton-in-Ashfield. Simon and John have spoken to these clubs and are happy to speak to other clubs, societies and organisations to spread the word about KES (hint hint)

Sponsors and supporters can be confident that all monies raised will go to this great cause and, as we continue to stress, none will be spent on administration.
